Is dental insurance worth it?

Calculate in three simple steps whether supplementary dental insurance pays off for you.

  • Choose your treatments
  • Enter your policy
  • See at once whether it pays off

1Which treatments do you expect this year?

Tick what applies to you. The amounts are average guideline prices.

Expected costs:

2What does your dental insurance include?

You can find this on your policy schedule or on the insurer's website. No insurance yet? Enter the details of the policy you are considering.

3What does this mean for you?

How does the calculation work?

The calculator adds up your expected dental costs, subtracts what the insurance reimburses (the reimbursement percentage, up to a yearly maximum) and then adds a year of premium. It compares that total with what you would pay without insurance.

Where do I find my policy details?

On your policy schedule, in your insurer's online account or in the policy conditions. Look for the reimbursement percentage (for example 75 percent), the yearly maximum and the monthly premium of the supplementary insurance with dental cover.

What does the calculator not take into account?

Waiting periods, exceptions per treatment, your deductible (eigen risico) and any own contributions. The result is therefore an estimate: always check the conditions with the insurer.
