What does basic insurance cover for the dentist?

For children up to 18 most regular dental care, except braces. For adults only specific care, such as specialised oral surgery and full dentures (with own contribution). A regular check-up or filling is not covered for adults.

Do you need a supplementary dental insurance?

That depends on your expected costs. If you need a lot of care, for example crowns, implants or braces, it can pay off. With only check-ups and cleaning often not.

What do you look for in a supplementary policy?

The reimbursement percentage, the yearly maximum, the waiting period, which treatments fall under the cover (implants, crowns, braces) and whether you have free choice of dentist.

When can you switch?

Supplementary policies usually run per calendar year. Cancel in time and watch out for waiting periods at the new insurer, otherwise you miss out on reimbursement.

Is dental insurance worth it?

You calculate that with our calculator: compare the expected reimbursement with the premium per year. Take into account waiting periods, maximums and that reimbursement often does not apply to all treatments.
