What does teeth whitening cost?

± €150 – €600

Professional whitening by the dentist or hygienist costs roughly €150 to €600, depending on the method (in the practice or at home with custom whitening trays). Drugstore kits are cheaper, but usually work less well.

Is teeth whitening safe?

When used by or under supervision of a dentist with approved products, whitening is safe. In the EU, whitening agent with a higher concentration of hydrogen peroxide may only be used by a dentist and not for people under 18.

How long does the result last?

On average 1 to 3 years. Coffee, tea, red wine and smoking make teeth discolour again faster. A touch-up treatment is possible.

Does whitening cause sensitive teeth?

Temporarily yes, often for a few days. Toothpaste for sensitive teeth and avoiding very cold or hot drinks helps. With lasting symptoms: stop and contact your dentist.

Who is whitening not suitable for?

Not with untreated cavities or gum problems, during pregnancy or breastfeeding and under 18. Crowns, veneers and fillings do not whiten and can therefore show differences.
